The Next Flagship Debuts

DETROIT (Jidosha Shinbun) -- Lexus pulled the wraps off the new fifth generation LS flagship built on their GA-L premium rear drive platform. The new LS has an even more dramatic design than the current model and borrows some cues from the LC luxury coupe. Lexus claims the new LS is 200 lbs. lighter than the current model. Powering the new flagship sedan will be a 3.5 liter twin turbo V6 engine mated to 10 speed automatic transmission. The engine produces 415 horspower and 442 lb-ft of torque. Lexus says that the new LS will go from 0-60 mph in only 4.5 seconds. No exact date was given except the new LS will go on sale in the U.S. near the end of 2017.
